Family Day Collage Workshop:
Our Superpowers—X-Ray Eyes

In the ‘Our Superpowers’ Family Day Workshop series, M+ Educators will uncover the mysteries of the museum through whimsical and quirky demonstrations to participating families, expanding the creative journey from the workshop space to galleries.

A museum is a treasure trove with many hidden gems waiting for us to uncover. Every pair of eyes will see the same object differently. Why might some be drawn to abstract works more, while others find a design object more fascinating? How can we share our different viewing experiences and feelings with each other?

In the ‘Our Superpowers’ Family Day Workshop series, M+ Educators will uncover the mysteries of the museum through whimsical and quirky demonstrations to participating families, expanding the creative journey from the workshop space to galleries, which enables a unique parent-child learning experience.

‘X-Ray Eyes’, the first workshop in this series, will be led by our educator Brandon Chan and empowers participants to see 'through' objects and perceive hidden details that are invisible to others. The workshop encourages participants to discover and capture the hidden ‘multi-eyed creatures’ at different exhibition spaces using small tools and then to compile the accumulated materials to create a portrait-collage poster.

The process focuses on the collaboration between adults and children, allowing family members to share their unique imaginations through visual improvisation games. Participants will get to learn more about their companions and each other’s perspectives in viewing and break through the experience of a typical museum visit, finding inspiration for DIY creations.
