Ban Shigeru and his firm have been involved in a wide range of projects encompassing various sectors, including cultural institutions, commercial spaces, churches, schools, private residences, and emergency shelters. His notable contributions lie in his humanitarian endeavours for disaster relief, where he introduced the innovative use of paper tubes as a primary construction material. This approach has provided sustainable and cost-efficient solutions to disaster-stricken areas worldwide since 1995.

The Shigeru Ban Architects Project Archives comprises a collection of 17 digital sketches and drawings representing 10 significant projects. These projects include the Paper House (completed in 1995), Paper Church in Kobe (completed in 1995), Curtain Wall House (completed in 1995), Nine Square Grid House (completed in 1997), Wall-less House (completed in 1997), Paper Log House in Kobe (completed in 1995), Tsunami Reconstruction Project in Kirinda (completed in 2006), Cardboard Cathedral (completed in 2013), Paper Log Houses, Cebu, the Philippines (completed in 2014), and the Nepal Disaster Relief Project (completed in 2015).

Additionally, within the M+ Collection, several works by Ban Shigeru can be found, specifically items 2020.330, 2020.331, 2020.332, 2020.333, 2020.334, 2020.335, 2020.336, 2020.337, 2020.338, 2020.339 and 2020.340.

The M+ institution has acquired the Shigeru Ban Architects Project Archives and is committed to preserving and cataloguing the archive to meet the highest international standards.
