Contend for Hegemony 爭霸

Sun Yuan and Peng Yu are known for provocative installations and performances that offer challenging social commentary. In Contend for Hegemony, the artist duo initiated a sparring competition between three contestants to raise questions on changing world order. Each competitor was from a different weight category: 80kg, 75kg, and 70kg respectively, making the contest unfair. After five rounds, a winner was declared. Contend for Hegemony is a metaphor for the game of global domination and institutional power. Sun and Peng create their own rules to question the legitimacy of hegemonic order in an increasingly complex world.
