Simon Liu (born 1987, Hong Kong) centres his practice around his place of origin, Hong Kong, through alternative documentary forms, abstract diary films, multichannel video installations, and 16 mm projection performances. His work has been presented at film festivals and museums including the Berlinale, Toronto International Film Festival, International Film Festival Rotterdam, New York Film Festival, Sundance Film Festival, The Shed, Cinéma du Réel, and the Whitney Museum of American Art. A 2019 Jerome Hill Artist Fellow, Liu is also a teacher at the Cooper Union School of Art and a member of Negativeland, an artist-run film laborn
