Mako Idemitsu (born 1940, Japan) creates videos that examine female identity within the context of a contemporary Japanese family. Often referencing and subverting popular Japanese television melodramas, Idemitsu considers the role of women in a patriarchal, mediated culture, particularly relationships between mother and child, husband and wife.
