Set in a fictional world, Never Take Off follows a toy-like aeroplane as it attempts to take flight. But, as the title suggests, it never leaves the runway. Zhu Jia reworks its visual and audio components, layering the authentic sound of a running engine with a music score. This humorous depiction of failure reflects the artist’s enduring interest in exploring and challenging the boundaries between reality and unconventional perspectives.
