This site model for Weisner Building shows the structure as a gateway between the newer (right) and older (left) parts of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology campus. It also features three buildings Pei designed in the 1960s: Cecil and Ida Green Center for Earth Sciences, Camille Edouard Dreyfus Chemistry Building, and Ralph Landau Chemical Engineering Building around McDermott Court. Placing Alexander Calder’s twelve-metre-high sculpture La Grande Voile (1965) at the centre of the court gives this cluster of buildings an even stronger presence along the southern border of the campus.
