Ultra Realistic: The First Part of Ma Ke's Left Index Finger超寫實:馬克的左手食指第一關節
2010
A row of ten large plasterboards is propped against the wall and covered in a hundred thousand Chinese characters, each the size of a grain of rice. From the first board on the left, Ma Ke writes horizontally all the way to the last board before starting a new line. The words record in almost obsessive detail Ma’s observations of his left index finger. He starts with the outline of his left hand, followed by the shape, texture, distance, skin tone, and other features. The words draw us into a microscopic view, barely perceptible to the naked eye.
