(12 May night session) Expressive Arts Therapy Experiential Workshop:
We Are All Polka Dots (Tertiary Student Programme)
Join an experiential expressive arts therapy workshop at M+. Express yourself through various art modalities with polka dots and explore our circles of comfort to attune our body, mind, and soul.
This workshop is for full-time students from local tertiary institutions. Please present a valid student card for admission.
Attune your body and mind to achieve a novel balance with the self, others, and the world in this expressive arts therapy workshop.
Yayoi Kusama uses vibrantly hued polka dots to reflect our connections. ‘Polka dots can’t stay alone... When we obliterate nature and our bodies with polka dots, we become part of the unity of our environments,’ the artist attests. Yet, the pandemic made us feel entrapped, tensed, and even disconnected. In this workshop, you will begin by making a polka dot of any size that resembles your circle of comfort. Under a safe and welcoming environment, registered Arts Therapist Cindy Yeung will then guide everyone to express their inner worlds beyond their boundaries and connect with other 'dots' through visual arts and body movements.
Expressive Arts Therapy is an integrative application of visual arts, dance, music, drama, and poetry to foster deeper personal growth and healing, and to promote community development. It is based on the fundamental belief that art is a resource for healing.
