Sun Yuan and Peng Yu in Conversation:
Inextricable
Since the late 1990s, the artistic duo Sun Yuan and Peng Yu have attracted interest for their large-scale installations and radical visual language. Their work—often made with unconventional mediums such as human body fat and animal specimens—raises questions about the norm of social ethics and aesthetics.
Starting from the work Old People’s Home (2007), which is on view at the exhibition M+ Sigg Collection: Another Story, Sun Yuan and Peng Yu will talk about their artistic practices of the past 20 years and explore the complex state of evasion and obsession that run through their oeuvre.
This free talk will be moderated by Ariadne Long, Assistant Curator of Visual Art at M+. It will be conducted in Mandarin, with simultaneous interpretation available in Cantonese and English. After the talk, participants will be led to visit the exhibition in Sigg Galleries.
