Young People Meet-Up:
Botanical Portrait
Bring your plants and join us for this sketching workshop where you will explore the subtle connection between you and nature.
Many people enjoy cultivating plants at home. For many, plants are not just for decorative but also a way to showcase personal taste or aspirations through their symbolic meanings. Throughout art history, artists from different cultures have drawn inspiration from Shanshui (‘mountain and water’), incorporating natural elements into their works to reflect their insights on life.
Nature is often the subject matter of artist Kensa Hung’s artistic practice where he presents nature’s diversity in a fantastical style. In this workshop, he invites you to bring your favourite plant to create a portrait of it and others' plants through sketching. This experience offers an opportunity to observe the plants from different angles, discover their vitality, and reflect on our relationship with nature.
Before the end of the workshop, the artist and M+ Young Collective members will lead you on a visit to the thematic exhibition Shanshui: Echoes and Signals, allowing you to experience Shanshui’s various influences on artistic expressions.
