Anatomy of a Fall
At the 2023 Cannes Film Festival, Justine Triet became the third woman in history to win the coveted Palme d'Or award for her film Anatomy of a Fall. Starring Sandra Hüller—best known for her performance in Toni Erdmann (2016)—as a German writer living in France on trial for her husband’s death, this riveting courtroom drama dissects the story of a failed marriage through a complex, psychologically ambiguous character who sheds light on the gender and cultural bias prevalent in French society. Despite the two-and-a-half-hour runtime, Anatomy of a Fall never fails to keep the viewer in suspense, backed by a stunning performance from Hüller.
