Lau Siu Hong Freeman Graphic Design Project 劉小康平面設計作品項目

Freeman Lau Siu Hong, born in 1958 and a graduate of Hong Kong Polytechnic, joined SS Design and Production in 1981. There, he collaborated with graphic designer and artist Kan Tai-keung, and eventually became a partner in Kan Tai-keung Design & Associates Ltd. in 1996. Lau's design clients have included numerous Hong Kong arts and cultural organizations, such as the Festival of Asian Arts. His involvement with the Hong Kong Design Centre, Hong Kong Federation of Design Association, and Design Alliance Asia helped promote Hong Kong's design industry. In the 1990s, he began his Chairplay series, which utilized chairs as a medium of expression.

Lau's notable works include the Watson's water bottle, the poster for Beijing's bid for the 2008 Olympic Games, and the logo for the Hong Kong Palace Museum, among others. His love for chairs has been a prominent feature throughout his artistry for over two decades, including sculptures and public art pieces. His Chairplay series has evolved into various artworks, such as the poster series Communication in 1997, the installation work Searching for Position II in 1998 at Fringe Club, and the collection of Ming Intertwined in 2011. Lau's creations have been collected by museums and galleries worldwide, including those in Hong Kong, Japan, Beijing, Italy, and Germany.
