This series comprises approximately 621 items on Cantonese opera or Chinese opera films mainly produced in Hong Kong between the 1950s and 1960s.

This series consists of posters, stills, synopses, and other ephemera, proving a successful integration of entertainment and artistry from film production and opera. Some of the most classic movies in the series include The Tragic Story of Leung Shan-Pak and Chuk Ying-Toi (1958) starring Yam Kim Fai, dubbed as "Opera Fan's Lover", A Buddhist Recluse for Fourteen Years (1958) challenging traditional Chinese morality, Butterfly and Red Pear Blossom (1959) which is a unique combination of cinematic art and opera, Triennial Mourning on the Bridge (1959) depicting the love triangle and quest for romantic and emotional fulfilment which are rarely seen in Cantonese opera, Snow in June (1959) starring Fong Yim Fun, elected as "Queen of Huadan" in 1952, Love in the Red Chamber (1968) which is the last masterpiece written by Tong Tik Sang. This series is arranged chronologically, according to the dates of release in Hong Kong.
