Sea-green ruffles make the most striking feature of this strapless velvet dress. The pleated strip of fabric goes around the waist to form a peplum skirt before travelling down the back, like ivy growing along a tree trunk. The design is refined, elegant, and a great example of Pierre Cardin drawing inspiration from nature for his haute couture pieces. Among the dresses brought from Cardin’s Paris studio to Beijing, this dress was a popular piece among Song Huai-Kuei and her models for various occasions from fashion shows to promotional events.
