When Pierre Cardin came to China, he brought the full range of his fashion lines from ready-to-wear to haute couture designs, including this halterneck tube dress with an asymmetrical hooped peplum. Made from a body-hugging stretch fabric with a low neckline at the back, this dress was a powerful fashion statement in China at a time when women returned to wearing outfi ts that emphasise the female silhouette after the revolutionary period.
