In this photograph, Yau Leung plays with the shadows of passers-by that are cast over the pattern on the ground in subtle positions. Known as the ‘Bresson of Hong Kong’, Yau was often compared with French photographer Henri Cartier-Bresson as they are both known for their pioneering aesthetic approaches to street photography.
