Children Summer Takeover:
Creative Day Camp

This event is suitable for children aged 6 to 8 and their parents. The first two days are participated by children individually, while on the third day, parents are required to participate with their children.

For more details, please refer to the ‘Participation Requirements’.

The second edition of Children Summer Takeover: Creative Day Camp is themed ‘The Everyday Alchemist’. Expanding imagination to different spaces within the museum and through a series of creative learning experiences, children will engage with various materials used by artists in their creations, inviting children to imagine and break out of the preconceived perceptions of everyday materials.  The camp emphasises children’s autonomy, encouraging them to create using various senses and to learn to think like artists, observing the world from fresh perspectives.

Generously Supported by Annie Kim Hung Lee.

Event Details

The first two days of the camp will focus on large-scale Creative Workshops led by sculptor Margaret Chu and M+ Educators. They will invite children to explore the relationship between materials and space, examining their surroundings from unique perspectives. Using unexpected materials, participants will collaboratively design and create installations. In addition to the workshops, there will be group activities featuring Museum Gallery Explorations, allowing children to navigate with M+ Educators and engage in imaginative play experiences in various spaces of the museum.

The third day of the day camp will comprise the Showcase of Creative Outcomes and Sharing session, where we will invite family members to join in and witness the moments when children dared to explore and innovate during the camp, celebrating their growth and transformation throughout this journey.

At the end of the camp, confirmation letters will be issued to each participating family (inclusive of one child and up to two adults), to freely visit exhibitions at the museum galleries, continuing the creative journey together.
