Children’s Easter Holiday Creative Camp:
My Story in Prints

This event is suitable for children aged 6 to 8 and 9 to 11, and their parents. The first two days are participated by children individually, during some sessions on the third day, parents are required to participate with their children.

For more details, please refer to the ‘Participation Requirements’.

What can printmaking be besides just a picture? Artist Zao Wou-Ki is dedicated to exploring the possibilities of printmaking as an artistic medium. In the M+ Special Exhibition Zao Wou-Ki: Master Printmaker, you will see how he captures the landscapes from his journeys in the prints and creates illustrated art books for his poet friends. For Zao Wou-Ki, printmaking is a bridge for expressing his observations and connecting with others.

Inspired by this, the Camp invites printmaking artist Cho Wing Ki and M+ Educators to guide children in using printmaking to tell their own stories, creating unique illustrated booklets. The themes and expressive methods are led by the children, emphasising self-expression. M+ Educators lead the children to explore a series of themes related to their personal lives, such as different faces of the self, and inner emotions, relationship with family and friends, weaving together individual stories about ‘me’.

Event Details

Gallery Exploration (Children will participate without parents/guardians)

M+ Educators will guide children through interactive gallery activities in Zao Wou-Ki: Master Printmaker. Entering the vibrant world of Zao’s prints, the abstract works will ignite children’s imagination.

Creative Workshops
(Children will participate without parents/guardians)

Children will start from different topics related to the self, such as those related to families, friends, pets, or nature. They will combine their imaginative worlds and storytelling to create their own little illustrated booklets. Artists Cho Wing Ki will introduce the children to basic printmaking techniques, using everyday objects to produce a myriad of print patterns. Afterwards, the children will compile their sketches during the experimental process, notes, or records in a handmade box, allowing children to not only possess the final product but also fun keepsakes from their creative journey.

Sharing Session
and Gallery Visit (Children will participate with parents/guardians)

At the end of Day 3, we will invite family members to join in a short sharing session, experiencing the joy of creation together.

Confirmation letters will be issued to each participating family (inclusive of one child and up to two adults), to freely visit all exhibitions at the museum galleries on Day 3 after the activities and to continue exploring Zao Wou-Ki’s creative journey.

Children who attend all three days of day camp activities punctually will be awarded a certificate of participation.
