How did the French-Chinese artist Zao Wou-Ki use printmaking not only as a form of art but as a way of building friendships and establishing his reputation in international art circles?

Zao Wou-Ki: Master Printmaker showcases printmaking works from Zao Wou-Ki from 1949 to 2000. In these guided tours, the exhibition curators will explicate the aesthetics embodied in Zao’s works and how he used the language of abstraction to spark visual associations. The tour will also trace his footsteps in the art world, offering insights into the life of this pioneering figure in contemporary art.

Are we able to decode the stories behind each artwork through the conservation process?

If we observe Zao Wou-Ki’s printmaking works up close, we will discover how he embraced the tension between control versus unpredictability of printmaking and the abstract versus the concrete. When these works require microscopic examination and care, restoring even the smallest details becomes crucial in the conservation process. Join a guided tour led by a M+ conservator, an expert in paper conservation, to hear lesser-known and behind-the-scene stories from the exhibition. Additionally, this tour will provide insight into the daily work of a conservator.

Please arrive at the entrance of the Main Hall Gallery, G, ten minutes early for registration. Latecomers will not be allowed to join the workshop ten minutes after it has started.
