How do artists use materials to express their thoughts and ideas?
This drop-in family event is designed for the Special Exhibition Lee Bul: From 1998 to Now. Children and adults are invited to step into a fantastical mirrored world to discover how Lee Bul employs reflective materials to convey her visions.
Guided by M+ Educators, participants will explore mirror surfaces of various textures and hardness, and use these materials to create unique, small, three-dimensional pieces. Through the process of taking apart and assembling reflective objects, they will observe how light and surrounding imagery merge and refract into multiple perspectives. In doing so, families will gain insight into how Lee Bul uses materials with different properties to express her personal emotions, observations of the world, and imaginations of the future.
