From Sound to Vision
Sensory Stroll:
From Sound to Vision
This event welcomes people of all ages. Children aged 12 or below must be accompanied by an adult.
When we talk about ‘observation’, the term always seems to be closely tied to vision. But do the visual images we see fully encapsulate our understanding of things? What exactly constitutes the feelings we have towards the things that we see?
This event invites blind video content creator Bread and experienced audio describer Dorothy Ngan to accompany participants on a journey through the exhibition M+ Sigg Collection: Another Story in an interactive way. Inspired by his daily experience, Bread will take sound as an entry point to appreciate the collection on display, thereby exploring the essence of the act of observation itself. In this 60-minute journey, participants will break free from the dominance of vision and try to ‘observe’ using their ears, discovering the stories hidden behind the collection and exploring the connections among the people and things in their surroundings.
About the Facilitators
Bread has been a content creator and a host at the WeTV Accessible Media since 2018. Through creating short videos, he shares his life experiences as a blind person, with the aim of fostering conversations and mutual understanding between people with and without sight through humour. Enthusiastic about promoting the participation of people with disabilities in art and cultural activities, Bread has taken part in the ‘Arts Go Digital!’ project (2021) initiated by Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC).
