What is it really like to be a woman in our times?

Artists in the exhibition, Dream Rooms: Environments by Women Artists 1950s–Now, are compelled to create groundbreaking works that speak of their experience as a woman. It can be full of contradiction, marked by softness, attention, or even discomfort.

When discussing the female experience, we might think of the strength and softness of femininity, like the touch of a feather, but also the piercing violence of patriarchy, cutting through like a sharp glare. It is a complex and layered journey from birth to coming-of-age and beyond.

In this tour, you will hear personal stories of womanhood from different walks of life. Echoing the works in the show, these stories offer an alternative lens for us to reflect on gender roles and politics in our time.
