M+ Young Collective Takeover:
Unauthorized ‘Archive’

How can we archive the everyday life of a museum?

The M+ Young Collective embarks on a vibrant six-month journey alongside book designer Renatus Wu, gathering and categorising diverse records of daily interactions among audiences within the museum space. Together, the Young Collective volunteers create an unofficial archive series about M+, culminating in a small publication. The Young Collective volunteers draw from personal experiences to uncover unique and fascinating perspectives, observing and documenting the museum’s daily life. This thoughtful yet unauthorized ‘archive’ invites audiences to discover the museum in unexpected ways.

In this showcase, we transform the space into a temporary printing workplace. The Young Collective will share the entire process of the publication, spanning topic development and data collection to copywriting, editing, book binding, and designing the exhibition space. Throughout the exhibition, the volunteers will continuously enhance the space, allowing it to evolve over time. They will also lead special drop-in tours, sharing their experiences and insights from the process. For more details, please refer to the event schedule below.

About M+ Young Collective

M+ Young Collective is a group of curious, passionate, and dedicated young volunteers who come together with a creative talent every year, to challenge preconceived ideas, bring creativity to life, and exchange ideas. They explore how M+, a space for display and social participation, can connect the museum’s exhibitions and collections with the daily life experience of young people and their thoughts. They will also showcase and share their findings in museum public spaces.
