Why does M+ have a research centre? In this session, you will have the opportunity to visit the Research Centre and the collection repository for archives and library. You will engage with museum professionals from the Archives and Library team to gain an in-depth understanding of the collection care and ways of managing collection archives and library resources. Through engagement with valuable primary documentation, such as printed materials, design drawings, and photographs, you will discover how collection archives record the creative journeys of artists and makers and how library resources assist in art research and tracing the history of M+. This will enable the public to gain a more comprehensive understanding of the museum and its collections.

Professionals from the Collection and Exhibition Department will guide you through the galleries, sharing their personal experiences. Centered around the current exhibitions or showcased collections, they will introduce their roles in collection conservation and management, as well as exhibition design and setup, sharing behind-the-scenes insights and lesser-known stories.

From the early stages of exhibition planning to the process of creating digital content and public programmes, how does the Curatorial Department collaborate closely to bring exhibitions to life and connect with audiences? In this session, you will engage with museum professionals from the Curatorial Affairs, Digital Content and Initiatives, and Learning and Interpretation teams. Gain insights into how they plan content and design engagement strategies tailored to audience needs, offering diverse perspectives on the museum experience.

Time: 15:30–17:00

Professionals from the Curatorial Department will guide you through the galleries and other museum spaces. Drawing from their personal experiences and reflections, they will deliver short talks on topics such as exhibition curation and creating museum programmes and displays. Meanwhile, professionals from the Museum Operations Department will introduce aspects such as museum merchandise design and marketing, as well as frontline roles like visitor services. They will share stories of their interactions with the public and behind-the-scenes insights, illustrating how different teams collaborate to deliver a richer, more comprehensive museum experience.

Please arrive at the Learning Hub ten minutes before the event begins for registration. Latecomers will not be allowed to join the workshop ten minutes after it has started.
