From the early stages of exhibition planning to the process of creating digital content and public programmes, how does the Curatorial Department collaborate closely to bring exhibitions to life and connect with audiences? In this session, you will engage with museum professionals from the Curatorial Affairs, Digital Content and Initiatives, and Learning and Interpretation teams. Gain insights into how they plan content and design engagement strategies tailored to audience needs, offering diverse perspectives on the museum experience.

Professionals from the Curatorial Department will guide you through the galleries and other museum spaces. Drawing from their personal experiences and reflections, they will deliver short talks on topics such as exhibition curation, public programme coordination, and publication editing. Meanwhile, professionals from the Museum Operations Department will introduce aspects such as museum merchandise design and marketing. They will share stories of their interactions with the public and behind-the-scenes insights, illustrating how different teams collaborate to deliver a richer, more comprehensive museum experience.

How are museum collections properly cared for? What are the processes involved in transporting them from storage to the galleries? In this session, you will engage with museum professionals from the Collection Archives, Registration, and Exhibitions teams to gain a practical understanding of how collections are documented, conserved, and prepared for display. Learn how different teams collaborate to ensure that each collection is responsibly cared for and thoughtfully presented to museum visitors.

Professionals from the Collection and Exhibition Department will guide you through the galleries, sharing their personal experiences. Centred around the current exhibitions or showcased collections, they will introduce their roles in collection conservation, as well as exhibition design and setup, sharing behind-the-scenes insights and stories.

Please arrive at the Learning Hub ten minutes before the event begins for registration. Latecomers will not be allowed to join the workshop ten minutes after it has started.

During the event, participants will sit on the floor and move around various areas in the museum. We recommend that participants wear comfortable clothing and shoes to the event. Chairs will be provided for participants in need, with limited availability. Please reach out to our Programme Assistants for further assistance.
