Bodily experiences often serve as a source of creative inspiration. The exhibition Dream Rooms: Environments by Women Artists 1950s–Now features artworks that explore women’s bodily sensations as they face life’s journey and social norms. The artworks invite the audience to immerse themselves and experience a range of sensory feelings—from joy and confusion to unease.

Choreographer Paula Wong Pona believes that stretching is only meaningful when it involves some pain; without pain, there is no true relief. She will guide you on a journey of exploration and reflection, using stretching to raise awareness of how emotions influence your posture. In relieving the tension accumulated from daily life, you will experience the coexistence of pain and comfort, as well as constraint and freedom.

M+ Educator and the choreographer will also guide you through the exhibition Dream Rooms: Environments by Women Artists 1950s–Now to understand the unique forms and ideas of these artworks from their respective eras, immersing yourself in the multi-sensory experience.

The Young People Meet-Up series encourages young people to explore and exchange their perspectives of the everyday through regular workshops, conversations, and talks.

About the Instructor

Paula Wong Pona is a creator, performer, and arts educator. She graduated in 2019 from the Department of Dance at Chinese Culture University (Taipei), earning a Bachelor of Arts degree. In 2022, she joined Unlock Dancing Plaza as a resident artist, engaging in contemporary dance creation, performance, and community arts projects. She is currently one of the co-operators of the art space ‘ngau4 gat1 dei6 (NGD)’. Wong’s artistic practice is dedicated to revealing, expressing, and embodying the lived experiences of women through physical performance, exploring society’s gaze on the female body and image. Her ongoing research project Dirty Stretch (2022–present) employs strategies of embodiment to deconstruct socially constructed representations of the female body.
