Introducing ‘Living Systems’, a programme developed for 3ETV, a new TV station, in partnership with Somerset House Studios
On air from 12 October to 16 December 2026, 3ETV is a multi-channel TV station curated and produced by Somerset House Studios in partnership with M+, HEK (House of Electronic Arts), Onassis ONX, and Pioneer Works. Through curated artist video responses and short provocations, the international collaboration considers how performance and technology have evolved in an ever-connected world.
With ‘Living Systems’, M+ brings together videos adapted from past web commissions, presenting a series dedicated to addressing aspects of digital culture today and pointing to new, pressing lines of enquiry at the intersection of art and technology. The selected works approach technology, humanity, and nature as deeply entangled forms of life, shaped through dynamic processes of interaction, feedback, circulation, and transformation.
Xu Bing’s You Inhuman Thing combines satellite imagery, found footage, and AI-generated media to stage a disorienting ‘human identity’ test that questions the boundaries between human and the technologically mediated non-human. In Atlas of Blobs, Zach Lieberman uses computer programming to generate blobs, an amorphous shape that manifests in nature, science, and digital realms. Guo Cheng’s Digital Terraforming imagines the hidden infrastructures of digital communication by tracing the compressed spatial and temporal journey of a single mouse click through distorted topologies and undersea cable networks. Inspired by role-playing video games, Ryan Kuo’s Puzzle is a generative computer programme that reconstructs fragmented bilingual conversations from personal memory to explore immigrant identity, familial relationships, and the uneasy entanglement of past and present. Zheng Mahler’s The Twenty-Three Thousand Sexes of Schizophyllum Commune and Other Stories combines field research, AI-generated animation, and fungal narratives to explore non-human perspectives, alternative life systems, and the responsible usage of machine learning.
Watch 3ETV online from 12 October to 16 December 2026.
