Video Art and Its Intermediations:
VIDEO/ART/TV Conference Public Session
How do contemporary scholars describe and view the creative and virtual spaces which give rise to artists’ film and video practices in greater Asia? As part of the VIDEO/ART/TV Conference organized by the Department of Comparative Literature at the University of Hong Kong, in partnership with the Global Emergent Media Lab at Concordia University, Canada, this session features presentations by distinguished experts and scholars who reconsider video art and its evolution in the context of the distinct regional geographies of Asia and the Pacific, as well as the role played by changing technologies and infrastructures such as the internet and smartphone applications.
Their research strongly resonates with M+'s research into the complex histories of the moving image in Asia and the museum's dedicated efforts in collecting, restoring, exhibiting, and touring artist films as part of the Asian Avant-Garde Film Collection and the Asian Avant-Garde Film Festival.
This session is conducted in English and open to the public. No registration is required.
