Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure

Teenage doofuses Bill (Alex Winter) and Ted (Keanu Reeves) dream of making it big with their band. Trouble is, they don’t know how to play the guitar properly. And if they flunk history class, Ted will be sent to military school. Little do they know that the world’s future is at stake, too. Rufus (George Carlin), a citizen from the year 2688, travels back to 1988 to prevent their band from breaking up because their music will eventually lead humanity to prosperity. To help them with their history presentation, Rufus gives the duo a time-travelling phone booth, which they would use to visit (and kidnap) different historical figures. With Socrates, Billy the Kid, Napoleon, and a few others in tow, our heroes must party on and save themselves from the bogus fate of flunking high school.

Fresh from his role in River’s Edge (1986), Reeves got his first break in this classic comedy role as a baby-faced youngster with tussled hair, exuding unbridled innocence and goofiness unlike any other role for the rest of his career. Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure defies cynicism and celebrates unadulterated fun.
