Chasm Forever is a monumental example of Hon Chi-fun’s signature airbrush painting style. The composition is painted in gradients of blue and purple, featuring a circle motif central to many of Hon’s painted and printed works. The perfect geometry within the painting conveys some of the philosophical views inherent in Hon’s practice, in particular Buddhist and Taoist ideas on man’s relationship to nature and the cycle of life. The painting’s sheer scale and imposing presence confronts the viewer with its undeniable sensual quality.
