M+ Teacher Roundtable

The M+ Teacher Roundtable is formed by M+ learning curators and teachers from various Hong Kong-based schools, who regularly exchange teaching experiences and engage in cross-disciplinary collaboration. We invite teachers and students to take part in the learning activities of our pilot programmes for them to share their thoughts on learning content and materials that are yet to be released, thereby exploring new directions in museum education and cultural learning.

M+ has invited ten teachers to become the current members of our roundtable. We would like to thank them for their support and the roundtable members from previous years for their contributions.

Collaborative Outcomes

Self-Directed Learning Toolkit: ‘My First Museum’ | Designed for primary school teachers and students for self-guided visits, the toolkit introduces various chair designs in the galleries and guides students to explore the connection between M+ Collections and daily life.

Primary School Tour: ‘M+ Encyclopedia: Ask the Museum’ | The programme encourages students to take questioning as a learning tool. Students collaborate with educators to develop part of the tour journey and explore the M+ Collections based on their interest.

Primary School Special Exhibition Tour: ‘Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now’ | The programme provides visual aids to stimulate students' senses and imagination, helping them understand the artist's creative concepts.

Primary School Special Exhibition Tour: ‘Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now’ | Students creatively respond to exhibits using learning tools in the galleries, showcasing unique ideas to each other.

Primary School Workshop: ‘Immersive Experiences of Visual Culture Learning’ | Students create individual and collective works using large components, exploring diverse forms of creative expression in visual culture. At the end, they revisit their creations through light and shadow, gaining new perspectives from multiple angles.

Secondary School Tour: ‘The Making of Dreams’ | The programme encourages students to engage in personal or collective creations in the galleries, discovering the relationship between the exhibits and their own lives and society.

Secondary School Tour: ‘Seeing Hong Kong: The Hidden Network behind Design and Architecture’ | The programme invites students to express their personal views through voting, visualising their responses to the guiding questions related to the exhibits.

Secondary School Workshop: ‘Social Engagement Experiments of Chinese Contemporary Artists’ | The workshop extends the tour learning experience. Through a large-scale board game at the museum’s public spaces, students experience the artist's creative journey and customize various tasks, understanding their determination to forge autonomous lives through their art.

Secondary School Artist-led Programme | The programme invites local or overseas creators to challenge traditional learning boundaries with secondary students, sparking creative ideas.

Secondary School Orientation Talk and Self-Directed Museum Visit: ‘Self-Guided Gallery Visit with Exhibition Orientation for M+’ | The programme provides on-site guidance for students' exploratory experience in the museum, encouraging them to personalise their learning journey based on their interests.

Teacher Special Exhibition Tour: ‘The Hong Kong Jockey Club Series: Picasso for Asia—A Conversation’ | The programme is designed based on the teaching needs of primary and secondary schools respectively and highlights works co-selected by M+ Learning Curators and members of the Teacher Roundtable.
