In addition to the permanent collection, the Mediatheque presents new temporary programmes every season, which includes thematic playlists, guest programmes, artist spotlights, behind-the-scenes interviews, and a selection of videos made in Hong Kong.

You can also encounter virtual reality, videogames, and other digital art experiences in the Media Play Room. Access to the Mediatheque is free.

Grand Stair

During the day, the Grand Stair plays host to artist talks, live performances, and other events. After the sun goes down, the curtains are drawn for Stair in the Dark, a unique Friday night screening experience.

Drop into Art at the Stair, a dynamic exhibition series featuring moving image art that connects with and expands upon other exhibitions currently on view at the museum.

Outside of ticketed events, the Grand Stair is accessible to the public free of charge.

Moving Image Lounge

The Moving Image Lounge on the Ground Floor is a free, drop-in space designed for unwinding and informal gathering. Settle into custom-designed, recycled furniture by Beau Architects, enjoy our plush carpets with a book, and take in moving image art displayed on screen. Surrounded by plants and ambient lighting, it’s a welcoming place to pause and reflect.
