About the Programme
M+ and the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) are joining forces for the fourth time to present four special programmes during the HKIFF50, including the premiere of a new M+ Restored title, Cageman (1992) by Jacob Cheung; a programme spotlighting works from the M+ Asian Avant-Garde Film Collection; and a presentation of Mary Stephen’s early experimental works alongside the festival’s Hong Kong premiere of the filmmaker’s latest film, Palimpsest: the Story of a Name (2025). M+ and HKIFF will also co-present a seminar on film editing, featuring renowned editors in the region, including Mary Stephen and Matthieu Laclau.
About HKIFF
As one of the oldest film festivals in Asia, the global reputation of the HKIFF was built on the pioneering work of programming Asian films and its retrospectives when Asian and Hong Kong cinema was not well known to the international community. With a solid reputation for programming, HKIFF has become the model for many subsequent film festivals around the region.
