For the third year, M+ and the Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF) will jointly present three special programmes during the 49th HKIFF, including Viet and Nam (2024), the latest film by artist-filmmaker Trương Minh Quý, and the world premiere of a new restoration of Peter Yung’s The System (1979), one of the titles of M+ Restored. The screenings will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers. M+ will also co-present a roundtable discussion on the comparative practices and challenges of restoring Chinese-language cinema, featuring representatives of institutions and laboratories across the region.

M+ and Hong Kong International Film Festival join hands once again for the 48th edition of the festival with three special co-presentations. There will be screenings and post-screening talks for Anand Patwardhan’s The World is Family (2023) and a restored version of Man Ray’s Return to Reason (1923). A roundtable with veteran documentarians on ‘Documentary Ethics, Aesthetics, and Education – A Roundtable with Veteran Documentarians’ will feature Japan’s Soda Kazuhiro, India’s Anand Patwardhan, and Hong Kong’s Ruby Yang.

In this inaugural collaboration with Hong Kong International Film Festival (HKIFF), M+ brings audiences Master Class with Tsai Ming-liang and All the Beauty and the Bloodshed with post-screening talks, as part of the 47th HKIFF.
