Join us at M+ Cinema for ‘Behind the Restoration’ Talks & ‘What is Film, Anyway?’ Workshops, complementing the screenings in the M+ Restored Festival 2026 and exploring the history and appeal of celluloid.

‘Behind the Restoration’ brings two panel discussions: one features the teams responsible for film restoration, where they explain the processes behind several M+ Restored films, the challenges they encountered, and explore how advanced technology is shaping film preservation; the other invites guest speakers to discuss the energies behind the (re)emergence of revival, repertory, and restored-cinema cultures across different places.


Meanwhile ‘What is Film, Anyway?’ will illustrate the history and appeal of celluloid with presentations of motion picture film formats and projectors, and the screening of a celluloid short.

Admission

Visitors can purchase exhibition tickets onsite or online. Events, and cinema screenings may require separate tickets. Children ages 6 and below do not need a ticket.

M+ is open from Tuesdays to Thursdays, weekends, and public holidays, from 10:00 to 18:00. On Friday nights, the museum is open late until 22:00. We are closed on Mondays. Last entry to the M+ galleries is thirty minutes before closing.
