The Bramah pendant light has more than a hundred fins that shield the intensity of the light source and cast a radiating silhouette. It was produced in a Dongguan factory through the aluminium-extrusion method typically used to make heat exchangers for electronics. Michael Young moved to Hong Kong in 2006, seeing the potential of connecting the city’s financial resources with nearby manufacturing centres in mainland China. Throughout his design practice, he investigates how techniques can be transferred across industries.
