In Conversation:
Lee Ufan and Doryun Chong
Join us at M+ to hear from Lee Ufan, one of the most prominent artists and theoretician of the avant-garde movement Mono-ha (‘school of things’), and M+ Artistic Director and Chief Curator Doryun Chong as they discuss the artist’s prolific practice.
Lee Ufan, one of the most prominent and admired artists from Asia working today, and M+ Artistic Director and Chief Curator Doryun Chong will be in conversation to discuss the artist’s profound and influential practice.
Lee Ufan’s sculptures are presented as connections between stones chosen from nature and industrial materials like glass or iron plate, while in his paintings, the painted and unpainted areas resonate with each other, causing even the space beyond the painting to vibrate. In this conversation, Lee will discuss his artistic philosophy, creative process, and cultural context of his works, especially his work Relatum–The Mirror Road, which is currently on view at the Shanshui: Echoes and Signals exhibition at the South Galleries, M+.
The conversation will be conducted in Korean, with simultaneous interpretation available in English, Cantonese, and Mandarin. Click on ‘register’ to sign up for this free talk.
