Photography Workshop for All:
In the Moment of Looking Closer through Kusama’s Lens
This event is suitable for participants of all ages. Children under the age of 12 must be accompanied by an adult.
We often create records to document memories and extraordinary moments in life. Mesmerised by the patterns of the ocean’s currents, artist Yayoi Kusama first envisioned her paintings Infinity Nets while flying over the Pacific Ocean.
In addition to what we can see and touch, just as Kusama once did, we can also take a closer look at our surroundings and capture the small details that speak to us. In this workshop, Cheng will share how he captures his surroundings from unique angles with creative methods as a wheelchair user. Explore different corners of the M+ building with photographer Kevin Cheng. Learn to observe our space from an unexpected perspective and snap photos of everyday objects using your phone.
Complementing Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now, this workshop brings participants a different perspective to understand the works and practice of Kusama. Bringing together diverse audiences and exploring the shifting perceptions of disability, In the Moment of Looking Closer shares the unique creative practices and perspectives of artists and makers with disabilities by diving into their creations that stem from their experience.
