Everyone experiences emotions differently. Sometimes, we become so focused on handling what’s in front of us that we overlook, or even suppress, our feelings. Over time, these emotions can build up, leaving us feeling unsettled or uneasy. Let’s take a quiet Saturday morning to listen to our bodies and gently let our emotions find a way to flow.
In this wellbeing workshop, art educator and mindfulness teacher Lau Tin Ming will guide participants through a series of gentle yoga practices. Through simple movements and mindful breathing, we will tune into our thoughts and deeper sensations within the present moment.
Afterwards, M+ Educators will lead a slow-looking exercise in the exhibition M+ Sigg Collection: Inner Worlds, inviting you to immerse yourself in a close encounter with one work of Chinese contemporary art. We will take time to notice details and explore how the artists navigate change, reflect on life’s challenges, and express emotion through creative practice. The slow-looking process becomes a journey of self-discovery—one that helps us listen to our inner feelings and needs. Participants are welcome to share observations and reflections, finding gentle connections with others while embracing their own unique selves.
This season’s three sessions each respond to a different theme inspired by different sections of the exhibition. Every slow-looking experience will be guided by a different M+ Educator, offering fresh perspectives each time.
Session 1 (24 Jan): What does calm look like?
Session 2 (28 Feb): What is true joy?
Session 3 (21 Mar): Can sadness be beautiful?
The Wellbeing Saturday Programme series takes place once every month on a Saturday, featuring a series of art and museum activities that focus and strengthen your mind, body, and spirit and help to make personal connections with art.
