Room for Seeing
Room for Seeing
This workshop is for participants ages 16 or above.
Participants are recommended to wear comfortable clothing for walking around the indoor and outdoor areas of the museum. Please see 'Event Arrangements' below.
How to find inner peace in our busy lives? Come take part in a series of slow looking and mindful walking exercises and be fully present in this visual experience.
Slow looking helps us cast off our usual ways of seeing, discover new perspectives and generate curiosity for the quotidian. This workshop, guided by art educator and yoga and mindfulness instructor Lau Tin Ming, will help you slow down as you walk through different museum spaces by bringing awareness to your steps and the way you respond to what you see. These exercises will enhance your attentiveness and observation, and help you build personal appreciation and deepen your spiritual connection to the works in the galleries.
This is part of a series of three Wellbeing Workshops at M+ that focus on the body and the mind – themed seeing, feeling and breathing – inviting you to create room for yourself and embark on a journey of contemplation and meditation. Through a variety of art and museum experiences, you will be guided to tune yourself to the present, become aware of your thoughts and feelings, and recharge your physical and mental batteries. No prior experience in artmaking or mindfulness is required to participate.
