HSBC, the Lead Partner of M+, won the Award for Arts Sponsorship at the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Awards. The award presentation ceremony of the 19th Hong Kong Arts Development Award was held on Tuesday, 10 June 2025.
The award recognises HSBC’s on-going support as Lead Partner of M+’s key arts programmes between 2022 and 2024, highlighting the corporation’s exceptional commitment to supporting Hong Kong’s cultural development and enhancing public engagement with contemporary visual culture. This award also reflects the shared vision and commitment of M+ and HSBC to showcase Asia’s contemporary visual culture to the world.
Organised by the Hong Kong Arts Development Council (HKADC), the Hong Kong Arts Development Awards recognise distinguished arts practitioners and organisations that have made significant contributions to the development of the arts in Hong Kong.
HSBC has been M+’s first Lead Partner since November 2022. The collaboration includes lead sponsorship for selected M+ Special Exhibitions including the highly acclaimed Yayoi Kusama: 1945 to Now and Guo Pei: Fashioning Imagination, as well as sponsorship of tours for non-governmental organisations and family-friendly learning activities under the M+ Family Day event series.
Suhanya Raffel, Museum Director, M+, says, ‘We are immensely grateful for HSBC’s steadfast support, which has been a key driving force behind the museum’s success in recent years. HSBC’s sponsorship has enabled us to stage world-class exhibitions that resonated profoundly with our visitors and deepened public understanding of contemporary visual culture in Hong Kong and beyond. The remarkable visitation numbers and enthusiastic reception to the public programmes of the two Special Exhibitions sponsored by HSBC underscore the public’s deep appreciation for meaningful cultural engagement. We look forward to continuing our fruitful partnership with HSBC as we work together to celebrate and promote Hong Kong’s vibrant arts and culture to local, regional, and international audiences, reinforcing the city’s position as a global cultural hub.’
Brian Hui, Chief Customer Officer, Wealth and Personal Banking, Hong Kong, HSBC says, ‘For 160 years, HSBC has been bridging Hong Kong with the world and the world with Hong Kong. This philosophy extends to our sponsorships, where we aim to foster meaningful connections. Receiving this recognition from the HKADC is a proud milestone for us. Through our partnership with M+, we’ve worked to create enriching cultural experiences that spark creativity and strengthen community ties, both in Hong Kong and beyond.’
