Uchida Shigeru Project Archives 內田繁項目檔案

Shigeru Uchida, a Japanese designer who lived from 1943 to 2016, is widely recognized as one of Japan's leading figures in interior and furniture design, and he played a significant role in promoting Postmodernism within the country. He undertook a wide range of design projects on a global scale, including architectural interior design, furniture design, industrial design, and urban planning. Some of his notable works include a series of boutiques for Yohji Yamamoto (1986), the Hotel Il Palazzo in Fukuoka (1988-1989), the Kobe Fashion Museum, the tea rooms 'Ji-an, So-an, Gyo-an' (1993), the Mojiko Hotel (1998), the AVIAMO series for Fujitsu General (2007), and the Oriental Hotel Hiroshima (2006).

Uchida Shigeru Project Archives consists of some 180 drawings and sketches in his 16 projects, including September (1977, a chair), October, (1977, a chair), Tenderly (1985, a floor lamp), NY Chair (1986, a chair), December (1977, a chair), Mr Terumichi (1988), Hotel II Palazzo (1988-1989), Furniture Pattern (1989), Cabinet for 'KAGU 1991' exhibition (1991), Day by day (1991, a bookcase), Ramona (1991, a cabinet), Come Rain & Come Shine (1991, a cabinet), Horizontal series (1998, a wall shelf), Clock for Mojiko Hotel (1998), Tea House design proposal for an Italian family (late 1990s), exhibition scene proposal at the Metropolitan Museum of Art (2003).
